The Irish B2B marketing sector is estimated to be worth over €100M. Our client Squaredot, recently launched Ireland’s only annual B2B marketing report and has shown that there has been a significant increase on the reliance of marketing services as a result of the need for companies to be digitally led since last March.

Referrals still provide B2B companies with both the largest and highest quality leads (20% and 25%). However, Ian Blake, CEO of Squaredot warns this approach is a powerful tool, but it is limited. “With referrals, early growth looks promising, but in the end, the line of existing customers to lean on and friends peters out. It’s marketing and brand building that will make the difference in terms of sustainable growth.”

The Top 3 Challenges for the Sector are

  • Delivering leads

  • Building brand awareness

  • Proving return on investment

According to the report

  • COVID-19 increased the reliance on B2B marketing departments for more than half of respondents (52%)

  • 41% said marketing budgets were reduced, while a further 47% stayed the same.

  • 12% increased their budget to capitalise on any opportunities and stay ahead of the competition.
