HARVEST FAIR @ RICHMOND BARRACKS
Richmond Barracks has been a stalworth of the Dublin 8 community since way back in 1810. It was one of the British Army's largest barracks, it housed over 3,000 suspected rebels after the 1916 Easter Rising, and today it’s run by Dublin City Council Culture Company.
From Richmond Barracks, DCC Culture Company runs Culture Connects, a year-round programme that invites people in the area and across Dublin to try out new things, offering ways to make and create together and to share ideas and connect through culture and conversation, including talks, tours and workshops for all ages and interests.
And this coming weekend, Richmond Barracks celebrates our rich and abundant harvest season. Harvest Fair takes place between 11am and 5pm on September 24th and 25th with a cornucopia of seasonal food, crafts, clothing, design and art. Admission is FREE and as well as stalls offering expertly crafted products made by local businesses, artists and craftspeople, and delicious locally made food from the harvest, visitors of all ages will have the chance to take part in one of the harvest themed drop-in creative workshops.
Highlights include harvest themed eco-crafts using nature to create fun sticker designs or make your own wax wrap for sandwiches and food; snap up some gorgeous clothing or crafts from designers such as Nikki Collier and Kilmainham Craft; and enjoy food from the FoodCloud Kitchen that uses excess surplus food from the FoodCloud Hubs that would otherwise go to waste as ingredients to prepare a delicious food.
